Smoking Cessation

An ancient metaphysical law says that we can never leave any situation that causes us discomfort until we learn to love it or at least to see love at work in it
(Sarah Ban Breathnach)

Hypnotherapy has been shown to be a very effective way to stop smoking. In fact, one published piece of research has shown hypnotherapy to be as much as three times more effective than nicotine replacement therapy (see below for details).

This is because hypnotherapy helps not only with the physical symptoms but also addresses the emotional and psychological factors behind the habit.

Rivendell's smoking cessation treatments include hypnotherapy, conscious motivational work, positive affirmations and practical advice.

Treatment for smoking addiction is available in two ways:

To find the most effective method to stop smoking, Frank Schmidt and research student Chockalingham Viswesvaran from the University of Iowa conducted a meta-analysis, bringing together the results of more than 600 studies totalling nearly 72,000 people. The results, which were published in the Journal of Applied Psychology and included 48 studies of hypnosis covering 6000 smokers, clearly showed that hypnosis was three times more effective than Nicotine Replacement. "Hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking, according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit. Willpower, it turns out, counts for very little"
